On Friday I went to the V&A to view the Fashion in Motion catwalk show. The collection was created by Osman Yousefzada who was born to Afghan parents and brought up in the U.K. At an early age, he was inspired by his mothers' dressmaking business in Birmingham, which influenced him to study at Central Saint Martins. Yousefzada launched his first collection in Spring 2006 under the Osman label, with a signature look that juxtaposes tradition with modernity, precision tailoring with sensuous draping, and draws upon ethnicity and costume of ancient and global cultures. The collection that I was fortunate enough to see was true to Yousefzada's signature sophisticated look. The show began with two excellent dancers, wearing Yousefzada's creations, demonstrating the importance of movement in fashion.
